Les Feuillardiers is our closest restaurant in the village of Marval a 5 minute drive or 15 min cycle ride away. They do an excellent Menu du Jour weekday lunchtimes for around €16 and a more fancy a la carte evening menu Friday, Saturday and Sundays. Booking is essential.

La Paillote du Grand Etang is a good pizzeria on the banks of the swimming lake at St Saud. It is open Sunday evenings when many other restaurants are shut, and is just a short drive from Pensol.

La propriété anglaise Ferme Du Lac est une agréable balade de 20 minutes dans les bois depuis Le Moulin de Pensol. They have a bar, large screen TV and do fish and chip and curry evenings.

La Grange du Lac at St Mathieu comes highly recommended. It has regular opening hours including Monday evenings (yay) and offers quality lunchtime and evening meals and coffees and drinks throughout the day. They sometimes have bands at weekends. A great thing to do is to combine a trip to the restaurant with a walk around the beautiful St Mathieu lake.

The much missed Le Périgord Vert in Piégut Pluviers has re-opened under new ownership. Part of a cluster of restaurants in Piégut-Pluviers, this is becoming the town for eating out.

La Taverne est situé en face du magnifique château de Montbron, à quelques minutes du Moulin. C'est un cadre magnifique mais les heures d'ouverture sont parfois difficiles à cerner.

L'Odyssée Bar in Saint Saud Lacoussiere has been refurbished and is good for a light meal or a drink. It is only 8km away so it's a good place to cycle to. They are open most days including evenings. They have no website or Facebook page. Tel: 05 53 56 97 13.

Hostellerie Saint-Jacques at St Saud is a wonderful restaurant. It offers inventive and fun French cuisine served in a range of weird and wonderful plates and bowls with humour and skill. At the more expensive end of the market, especially for wine - it is definitely worth a visit especially for a special occasion. It's very popular so its worth booking a table before you arrive in Pensol - or we can do it for you.

La Baleine à Bascule is another Piégut-Pluviers restaurant and the new kid on the block. We've been there and we liked it with super friendly staff and a lovely space. And they have a website - so modern!

Le Moulin du Grand Etang is by the lake at Saint Estephe which gives you the opportunity to have a lovely walk round the lake followed by a high class french meal. Highly recommended.
