Chateau de Montbrun

Chateau de Montbrun is the most perfect pocket -sized Château – just a 10 minute drive from Pensol. It is owned by an eccentric Dutchman and has erratic opening hours to match. If you are lucky enough to find it open, there are sometimes guided tours. However it makes a lovely trip out just to stand by the lake and admire its 12th and 15th century architectural perfection. There is a restaurant opposite called La Taverne .

The Château is linked to Richard the LionHeart. Some stories say that after he was shot at the nearby Chateau Chalus-Chabrol, the king was brought to Chateau Montbrun and died there.
