Our largest gite Chataignier is particularly good for cyclists. It has three bedrooms with a family-sized shower room and a spacious kitchen. It has tiled floors throughout downstairs with lots of space to store bikes within your living area. We understand that they are very precious to cyclists, and even if we gave you external bike parking you would still want to bring them into the house! This way, you can know that your baby is okay at all times (and give it a little tickle on the handlebars while going to open another bottle of wine).
Limoges Airport provides excellent links to the UK with regular flights to Stansted, Bristol, Leeds, East Midlands and Manchester.
The baggage handlers are friendly, and because it is such a small airport, you can quickly collect bike boxes and be on your way. We have a trailer and are happy to provide a collection service – currently just €50 each way.
This leaves you to collect your hire car if you wish, or you can get a lift back to your gite with us if you don’t feel you need a car. Ryanair gets a lot of stick, but they provide a cost-effective way to get to this part of France. Flights outside of school holiday times are quite ludicrously cheap making even a short stay or a long weekend a possibility.

Once we have collected you from the airport and installed you and your bikes in your gite, why not let us cook for you? We can provide home cooked evening meals delivered to your gite. If you are here on a Monday evening, you can join in with our weekly pizza night. We also offer breakfast every day – also delivered to your gite. Vegetarian or vegan is no problem – just let us know.
Perfect for Touring Cyclists
I am writing this blog because we have two very keen cyclists who came to stay with us three times this year. They are very keen to spread the word about how good Le Moulin de Pensol is for touring cyclists. The things Leona and Simon liked most were:
- The well-maintained traffic-free roads
- The simplicity of bringing bike boxes through Limoges airport
- Being able to keep their bikes in the accommodation with them (bless)
- Not having to cook for themselves on the first night
- Breakfast every day with fresh bread, croissants, fruit, yoghurt and home-made jam
- Storage for bike boxes
- Repair and parts shop nearby
We are very grateful to them for their help and enthusiasm in developing this side of our business (and the cycling photos in this article).
Leona is a Strava devotee and was keen to point out how easy it is to become Queen of the Mountain on such seldom used routes!
Finally, there is a great website to give you more information on all things cycling in France.
Don’t forget, there are lots more things to do around Pensol.
We look forward to welcoming you and your bikes to Le Moulin de Pensol in the future.
