Some holidays are about doing less — and enjoying it more.
Châtaignier is a charming three-bedroom gîte for families who want to swap screens for streams, notifications for birdsong, and group chats for actual conversations around the dinner table.
Come and paddle in the River Bandiat, spot moths by torchlight, build dens in the woods, or have a chat to our donkeys. These are the kinds of days children remember for years — and parents do too.
The Space
Châtaignier sleeps a family of four in real comfort — two adults in the generous master bedroom with its large double bed, and two children in two charming rooms furnished with pretty vintage French double beds and new mattresses. The family shower room is upstairs, with a handy extra WC downstairs. The spacious kitchen and living room has everything you need for lazy breakfasts, rainy day lunches and unhurried evening meals made with local market ingredients.
For film nights, we’ve kept the DVD player — because there’s something lovely about a whole family watching the same thing together for a change.
Outside
Your private garden with garden furniture and an exclusive BBQ overlooks the lawn, peach trees and the gentle River Bandiat. Eight hectares of rewilded nature reserve are on your doorstep — with walking trails, wildflower meadows and more wildlife than you can shake a pair of binoculars at.
The Setting
Châtaignier sits within Le Moulin de Pensol, a small family-run estate of four gîtes. You’ll have your own private space, and in summer the whole property has a lovely holiday atmosphere — children often make friends across the gîtes.
Free WiFi, bed linen and towels included. Dogs very welcome — a small fenced garden keeps them safely contained. Cot available on request.
Please note: the three bedrooms sleep up to six in double beds. Châtaignier is ideal for a family of four — guests wishing to sleep six adults comfortably may wish to consider our larger Le Moulin gîte instead.
